my name is aly.

I am the human behind this biz! I often say I started Hot Girl Coat Check by accident because of how organically it came to be.

I’ve worked in the NYC service industry since 2015. Over the years, those jobs gave me the flexibility to grow my clothing business as an upcycler, reseller, and embroidery artist. I’ve always loved the camaraderie of the industry and have built an incredible network of friends along the way, many who I now call family.

In fall 2022, I reached out to a bar where I had worked coat check pre-COVID to pick up some shifts for the winter. They had just reopened and had a line down the block every weekend, but no one to run their coat check operation. They trusted me with the job, and I started staffing the shifts I couldn’t work myself. Before long, I had a group of girls eager to get involved.

That’s when it clicked for me. I knew I could bring this same system to other bars, create more shifts for my girls, and solve a problem for venues at the same time. The more owners I spoke to, the more I realized there was a real need for a company whose entire expertise is coat check, one that could come in and seamlessly run the whole operation.

We named it Hot Girl Coat Check because our team is made up of hardworking NYC gals using their coat check money to pursue all kinds of other passions. HGCC gives them the same thing service jobs have always given me— flexibility to make money while chasing something bigger. Being a “Hot Girl” has nothing to do with how we look. It’s about being strong, savvy, smart, and multi-faceted.

We doubled our business in the ’25–’26 season and now operate at 10 venues every Friday and Saturday (plus some Thursdays!), while also working with production companies and brands on events and pop-ups.

We are now 4 years in but we’re just getting started 💕
